We all know that waiting stinks when the chocolate craving hits. Good news, there doesn’t have to be anymore waiting. Since this recipe has only 3 common ingredients it only takes 5 minutes to whip up a batch of cookie dough.

If you’re a chocoholic like myself then feel free to add in some chocolate chips to make CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE chip cookies (a dream come true for chocolate lovers). Though you may need a glass of milk with these cookies to balance out the richness.

This recipe uses chocolate cake mix (whoops, I ruined the surprise). The cake mix is like a secret ingredient that encompasses all the dry ingredients and produces the fudgy chewy cookies.

Tools I recommend:

  • Measuring cup
  • Medium bowl
  • Cookie sheet
  • Optional: parchment paper or silicone baking mat – I use a silicone baking mat any time I bake cookies to prevent them from sticking to the pan
  • Cookie scoop – I use a 1.5 tablespoon cookie scoop for the perfect cookie size

3 Ingredient Chocolate Cookies:

3 ingredients for chocolate cookies including oil, chocolate cake mix, and 2 eggs all sitting on a wood cutting board
  1. Chocolate cake mix – any type of chocolate cake mix will work great. Note: a Devil’s Cake mix will make the cookies more fudgy
  2. Oil
  3. Large eggs

How to make the Chocolate Cookies:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, and oil in the mixing bowl. Use a fork to mix the ingredients together. Note: using an electric mixer will cause the cookie dough to become slimy and shiny.
  3. Use a cookie scoop to place the cookie dough on the cookie sheet. Leave 1.5-2 inches between cookie dough balls.
  4. Bake for 8-9 minutes. Note: increase the baking time 1-2 minutes for slightly firmer cookies.
  5. Allow the cookies to cool on the pan for several minutes before moving to a cooling rack. Then enjoy!

Optional Ingredients:

In my humble opinion it’s never a bad thing to add more chocolate…

  • White chocolate chips – I love the contrasting color of the dark brown cookie with the white chocolate chips
  • Dark chocolate or milk chocolate chips – this may make the perfect cookies
  • Nuts – who doesn’t love nuts and chocolate together?
