Heath Bar Trifle Ingredients:

BROWNIES – bake a 9×13 pan of brownies. Feel free to use a boxed brownie mix from the grocery store or your own brownies recipe. I love to make Chocolate Espresso Brownies for the extra chocolate flavor.

CHOCOLATE PUDDING – 1 package of instant chocolate pudding mix mixed with whole mix (according package directions) will be the perfect amount

WHIPPED CREAM – use a 16 ounce container of cool whip or make homemade whipped cream by mixing COLD heavy whipping cream with a 1/2 c powdered sugar & 1 tsp vanilla extract on medium-high to high speed for 3-4 minutes.

HEATH CANDY BARS – buy whole heath toffee bars and break them into small pieces yourself or buy heath toffee bits

This amazing dessert has ONE simple step:

ASSEMBLE TRIFLE – layer brownies, pudding, cool whip, and heath bar crumbles. Note: the number of layers will depend on how large your trifle dish is. The traditional English trifle has 2 layers but personally I like the look of 3 layers.

OREO COOKIES OR PEANUT BUTTER CUPS – swap out the heath bar for other delicious candies

FAQs:

How long will trifle keep in the fridge?

Store in the refrigerator, tightly covered in plastic wrap. A trifle will be safe to eat for up to 7 days but the integrity and picturesque layers will be reduced after 2-3 days.

Will trifle get soggy overnight?

Typically trifles should be made at least 1 hour in advance or the day before but this will depend on what your layers are made of. A trifle should be stored in the refrigerator. Leftover trifle will start to become soggy after 2-3 days.

Will trifle freeze?

Trifles can be frozen but the cool whip or whipping cream layer can separate after being frozen and defrosted. Trifle desserts are best served fresh.

Can trifle be made the day before?

A trifle should be made between 1 and 24 hours in advance. Save the top layer of whipped cream or cool whip until just before serving. Store the trifle in the refrigerator, tightly covered with plastic wrap.

Ingredients

  • 1 9×13 pan of brownies baked
  • 1 package instant chocolate pudding mix made according to package directions
  • 1 16 ounce cool whip thawed
  • 1 package heath bar toffee bits

Instructions

  • Cut the brownies into small pieces. Place half of the brownies on the bottom of the trifle dish.
  • Spread half of the chocolate pudding onto the brownie layer.
  • Spread half of the whipped topping onto the chocolate pudding layer.
  • Sprinkle half of the heath bar toffee bits onto the chocolate pudding layer.
  • Repeat the layers with the other half of the ingredients.
  • Refrigerator at least 1 hour or overnight before serving.
