High Altitude Apple Pie with Crumb Topping

Ingredients

  • 1 prepared pie crust unbaked

Apple Pie Filling

  • 6 cups apples peeled and sliced
  • cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Crumble Topping

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • cup butter melted

Instructions

  • PREPARE PIE CRUST - roll out the pie dough on a lightly floured surface and place in a pie pan
  • PREHEAT OVEN TO 425 ℉
  • PEEL, SLICE, AND CUT APPLES - cut apples into thin slices (approximately 1/4" thick)
  • CREATE APPLE PIE FILLING - dump the sliced apples into the prepared pie crust then sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon over the apples
  • CREATE CRUMB TOPPING - add the melted butter, sugar, and flour together until clumps start to form. Gently spread the clumps over the top of the apple pie filling
  • BAKE - bake at 425 ℉ for 5 minutes then decrease the temperature to 350℉ for 40-50 minutes or until the top of the crust and crumb topping is golden brown
