Recommended Tools:
Small saucepan – to melt the chocolate and butter
Large bowl & handheld electric mixer OR electric stand mixer – it’s much easier to get a well-blended, smooth frosting with an electric mixer

Hershey Frosting Recipe Ingredients:
Unsweetened cocoa powder – for all the delicious chocolate flavor use Hershey’s Cocoa
Unsalted butter – for a rich, smooth frosting
Powdered sugar – the foundation of the frosting
Salt – don’t skip the salt! A little bit goes a long way to help balance the flavor
Milk – I always use whole milk for extra fat or for extra rich frosting use heavy whipping cream
Pure vanilla extract – enhances the chocolate flavor (a little secret of mine…I never measure vanilla)
See the recipe card at the bottom of the post for the full ingredients list.

TIP: I am not a pro at frosting and decorating, so I find it much easier to frost a cake when the cake is frozen. Allow the cake to cool completely, wrap each layer in plastic wrap, and freeze for a few hours or overnight.
