Spicy Chinese Chicken Ingredients

Sauce ingredients:

  • Low-Sodium/Lite Soy Sauce – less sodium (salt) helps create a better balance of flavors
  • Brown Sugar – the sweetness pairs with the spicy chili garlic sauce and creates an incredible depth of flavor
  • Chili Garlic Sauce – the KEY INGREDIENT to this delicious sauce

Note: I have trouble finding Chili Garlic Sauce at my local grocery stores. I order this one online and it is delicious!

Protein:

  • Skinless chicken breasts – cut up into bite-size pieces
  • Olive oil – to prevent the chicken from sticking to the wok or skillet
1 whole skinless chicken breast and bite-size pieces of cut up chicken breasts, a knife, and wooden cutting board

Noodles:

  • Ramen Noodles (without sauce packet) – or use your favorite noodle or rice

Vegetables:

Feel free to add your favorite vegetables:

  • Broccoli – if using frozen florets, steam or cook ahead of time
  • Green bell peppers
  • Baby Corn
  • Yellow pepper
  • Onions or green onion

How to make Spicy Chinese Chicken:

  1. Prepare your chicken breasts and vegetables by cutting them into bite-size pieces.
  2. Heat your wok or skillet to medium-high heat and place the olive oil in it. Note: if you are using a wok, the oil will heat up very quickly.
  3. Place the bite-size pieces of chicken into the hot oil.
  4. Cook the chicken for 2-3 minutes until the outside of the chicken is cooked. Stir occasionally to prevent the chicken from burning.
  5. Pour the soy sauce, brown sugar, and chili garlic sauce on to the chicken. Stir to coat the pieces of chicken.
  6. Add the cut up vegetables to the sauce and chicken. Stir to coat the vegetables. Allow the vegetables and chicken to simmer in the sauce and cook.
  7. Bring a large pot of water to a boil
  8. Cook the ramen noodles for 3 minutes and drain the water. Note: do not rinse the cooked noodles with water.
  9. Add the noodles to the cooked chicken and vegetables.
  10. Stir to coat the noodles with the sauce and enjoy!

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons chili garlic sauce
